This is Leigh’s award winning Chicken Crescents recipe from our church’s cook off in 1994. Fast forward to the 5th Annual Hunt Family Christmas Cook-Off 2019 and again it was the top vote getting dish in the contest. We modified her original recipe a bit by adding ham to the filling and making them with homemade fresh croissant dough.
Ingredients:
- 10 oz cooked ham, small cubes
- 10 oz cooked chicken meat, small cubes or chopped
- 1 – 8 oz package of cream cheese
- ¼ tsp. pepper
- 2 T. green onions, chopped
- 6 T. melted butter
- ½ tsp. salt
- 4 T milk
- 2 (8 oz) package of crescent rolls (this is from the original recipe, fresh homemade croissant dough was used for pictures show.) Delicious either way.
- 1 egg – beaten for egg wash.
- Parsley
Preparation:
- Blend cream cheese, 4 T. of melted butter and milk.
- Add chicken, ham, salt, pepper and green onions.
- Divide crescent roll dough into four sections and press seems together.
- In this preparation we used the fresh homemade croissant dough and used as larger triangles.
- Put a portion of the chicken/ham mixture into each section. Fold ends together and twist at top. Brush remaining butter on each and top with parsley.
- We changed up the recipe here too and used egg wash instead of butter.
- Bake at 350 degrees for 20-25 minutes.
